Job Description
Assist survey crews with field operations by operating survey equipment, collecting accurate data, and supporting local and multi-state project assignments, including extended travel as needed.
Duties/Expectations
- Perform work under the direct supervision of an experienced professional while following established procedures and clearly defined processes.
- Assist the Field Supervisor with all aspects of the daily crew workload.
- Work as a member of a survey crew performing boundary, topographic, ALTA, right-of-way, and construction surveys for public and private clients.
- Set up and operate survey equipment, including total stations, data collectors, levels, and GPS equipment.
- Perform survey calculations as needed.
- Perform all aspects of stakeout and location surveys using applicable survey equipment.
- Maintain survey equipment and keep the survey truck stocked with necessary supplies and tools.
- Coordinate work of assigned subordinate personnel when applicable.
- Assist with training personnel in lower-level positions.
- Perform accuracy and calibration checks and make adjustments to equipment as needed.
- Work safely each day and remain in compliance with all safety regulations.
- Provide daily care of survey instruments, tools, and company vehicles.
- Work onsite at assigned project locations, including local job sites and out-of-town or out-of-state assignments as required.
- Be available for extended travel assignments based on project needs, including work outside of Arizona for longer-duration projects.

Minimum Requirements

- Ability to work onsite at assigned project locations.
- Ability and willingness to travel out of town and out of state for extended project assignments as needed.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or overtime when required by project schedules.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if the position requires operating company vehicles.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and operate survey equipment and field supplies.

Preferred Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- College or technical coursework in mathematics, surveying, construction, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of one to two years of survey or construction-related experience preferred.
- Prior Instrument Operator experience preferred.
- Familiarity with field procedures for boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS land title, right-of-way, and construction surveys preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in all seasons and varying weather conditions.
- Ability and willingness to travel out of town and out of state for extended project assignments as required.
- Availability to work overtime, extended hours, and weekends as needed based on project schedules.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
