Careers at A Team — Where Precision Meets Opportunity

Since 1987, Careers at A Team have been more than just jobs in surveying, drafting, and engineering — we’ve been a place where professionals build lasting careers and take pride in their work. Many of our team members have spent decades with us, not because they had to, but because they found purpose, growth, and stability in the journey. Our legacy is built not only on precision and technical expertise, but also on people who believe in shaping Arizona’s communities through their work.

With more than 40+ professionals, we are driven by values that shape both how we work and how we support one another:

  • Respect – valuing each professional’s contributions and creating a workplace built on trust.

  • Team Players – collaborating to achieve success together, never alone.

  • Passion – bringing energy and pride to every project and service we provide.

  • Attention to Detail – ensuring precision and accuracy in all that we do.

These values aren’t just words — they are the cornerstone of how we serve our clients, our communities, and each other. They guide us in delivering exceptional results while fostering a culture where professionals thrive and careers endure. Over the years, we’ve seen how living these values creates a workplace that attracts talent, retains experience, and motivates individuals to give their very best every day.

Choosing A Team means choosing more than a job — it means choosing a future. Careers at A Team are built on mentorship, long-term growth, and a commitment to excellence. We take pride in helping our people advance their skills while contributing to projects that improve infrastructure, utilities, and development across Arizona.

If you’re seeking a place that balances opportunity, growth, and purpose with a supportive team culture, Careers at A Team may be the right fit for you. We invite you to explore your future with us.

Career Training and Growth Opportunities

Survey crew training outside A Team corporate office in Tempe, Arizona – Careers at A Team with hands-on surveying experience

Hands-On Survey Training at A Team

At A Team, learning begins on day one. New surveyors and field staff are paired with experienced crews for ride-along training, giving them immediate exposure to the services we provide our clients every day. This approach builds confidence, sharpens skills, and ensures that every team member understands both the technical and practical side of the work.

Training doesn’t stop in the field. We provide in-house workshops and development programs designed to help employees earn and maintain professional surveying credentials. Team members have the opportunity to prepare for and pursue Certified Survey Technician (CST) exams and other professional levels, broadening their horizons and opening the door to long-term career advancement.

Our training covers a wide range of field applications, including boundary and topographic surveys, construction staking, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and utility mapping. Employees also gain exposure to industry-standard workflows that ensure precision and consistency across every project.

To support this growth, we equip our teams with the best tools in the industry. By working exclusively with Trimble technology, our surveyors benefit from reliable equipment and software that make operations smoother and more precise, both on-site and in the office. Combined with mentorship from senior professionals, our training program(s) ensures that employees don’t just learn how to do the work — they learn how to build lasting, successful careers in the surveying profession.

Hands-On Drafting, Permitting & Utility Design Training at A Team

From week one, our drafters and designers sit shoulder-to-shoulder with senior CAD leads on active jobs. That side-by-side start puts you straight into basemapping, plan production, and utility layouts—building speed, accuracy, and real-world judgment.

Training continues in-house and on demand. We document our day-to-day workflows, checklists, and standards in Trainual, giving you a clear guide you can revisit anytime. We also run focused workshops that move team members from fundamentals to advanced production and QC.

We exclusively use proprietary toolsets within Autodesk (Map 3D/Civil 3D)—custom templates, styles, palettes, and automations that keep files clean and submittal-ready. The result is consistent, jurisdiction-compliant plan sets with fewer revisions.

Curriculum highlights include basemapping from survey/record data, plan & profile sheets, utility coordination, permitting packages, and structured QC against agency checklists. With mentorship and modern tools, team members don’t just learn the software—they learn to produce clear, permit-ready plans and grow into long-term careers.

Graduates of this track contribute fast: delivering clean base files, assembling permit sets that pass with minimal comments, and coordinating revisions efficiently. Built-in growth paths—QC lead, utility design specialist, project CAD manager—are reinforced by regular reviews and Trainual as the source of truth, so you always know what “good” looks like and how to get there.
